Darlington looks strong in scrimmage

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Darlington walloped Lake Marion 40-13 in a midweek scrimmage, and hope that's a sign of things to come for 2009.

Things kicked off well for the Falcons, when the Gators snapped the ball over the punters head and into the end zone for a safety on their first possession. On the ensuing drive, Darlington's Ray Early booted a 47 yard field goal to give Darlington the baseball-esque 5-0 lead. Darlington's ground game was impressive against a bigger Lake Marion squad, led by senior running back Dominique Cooper.

Head Coach Justin Danner is entering his third year at Darlington, and signs are pointing that this may be the best season in his tenure. Darlington has been mired through back to back 2-8 seasons, with zero region victories, but Danner believes his club has matured and grown up, leading to a much more competitive 2009.
