The heart of Hartsville's offense returns for 2009, and that has the Red Foxes thinking a deep run in the playoffs in what might be their final year in AAAA.
The Foxes return their starting quarterback - Shawn Smith, and three starting running backs. The leader of those rushers, Dre Scott, is in striking distance of the school's all time leading rushing record.
Defensively, Hartsville will need to improve mightily. They gave up 27 points a game last year, but lose many of those players to graduation.
Hartsville likes the players they have in the backfield on offense and their improving defense.. they may have a chance at getting to their first state title game in 13 years.
