The Hartsville boys’ soccer team walloped the Marlboro County Bulldogs Thursday night at The Cage in Hartsville 9-0.
The game wasn’t without milestones, either, as Hartsville’s Kyler Gartner brought home a hat trick with three goals on the night.
Evan Vasseur had two goals for Hartsville as well.
Other players who found the net were: Wes Regan, Jacob Newton, Jamie Irick and Caston Jeffords.
Gartner, Dalton Hall and Vasseur each had two assists.
“This was our first complete game of the season,” Hartsville head coach Troy Alexander said. “All year long, we have had 12- to 15-minute stretches of great soccer and then a let down would cost us goals. Tonight, we put a full game in and possessed the ball for a majority of the game. Marlboro County really picked up its physicality of play in the second half, and our kids handled themselves well.”
On Friday, the team fell to Carolina Forest 8-0.
Alexander said the team has been plagued by injuries, and the effects of those injuries showed against the Panthers.
They hosted Conway Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
The Foxes are 7-7 on the season and 1-6 in region play.
Hartsville will host South Florence Friday night at 8:10 p.m. This game is senior night for the Foxes.
