HARTSVILLE — Paul VI claimed their second straight Southeastern Baseball Classic championship with a 9-2 win over Gaffney on Saturday at Jimmy White Park.
Paul VI is the second team to repeat as champions in the 13-year history of the tournament. The only other team to do it was Pelham High School of Alabama when the Panthers did it in 1999-2000.
In other games Saturday, Hartsville ended up going 2-2 in the tourney with a 6-0 loss to Northwest Guilford.
The Red Foxes managed only four hits in the game with Seth Lowe getting two of them. Lowe was one of three Hartsville players on the all-tournament team.
The other two Red Foxes on the team were Cody Mincey and Jent Jones.
West Florence wrapped up the tourney with an 0-4 mark, losing to Lakewood 10-5.
Sumter defeated Stratford 6-0 in the other game of the day.
