HARTSVILLE — In his first career start for Hartsville, Jent Jones allowed two runs on four hits in six innings as the Red Foxes earned a 6-3 victory over Lakewood on Thursday at the Southeastern Baseball Classic.
Jones threw 81 pitches and had five strikeouts in his debut on the mound.
Tied 2-2, Hartsville scored four times in the third inning and held on from there.
Alex Gray was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Hunter Privette and Zach Henderson each drove in a run as well.
The Red Foxes will take on North Stafford today at 6:30 p.m.
In other scores, Paul VI defeated West Florence 13-3, Gaffney beat North Stafford 12-1 and Sumter defeated Northwest Guilford 11-5.
West Florence plays Northwest Guilford today at 4 p.m. while Sumter takes on Paul VI at 1:30 p.m.
