The Coker Women's Tennis team dropped their first match in the last four matches losing 7-2 to Mount Olive College in Conference Carolinas women's tennis on Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while the Lady Trojans improve to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Coker picked up its first win in doubles play, as Ashley Pace (Clinton) and Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head) won No. 2 doubles 9-7, while losing 8-6 at No. 3 doubles and losing 9-8 (9-7) at No.1 doubles.
In the singles matches, Mount Olive dominated, winning five of six.
Coker's only win came at No. 2 singles, with Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia) winning 6-3, 6-0.
Coker will return to action on Saturday when they hit the road to face non-conference opponent Wingate University.
Lady Cobras Fall to Erskine Fleet, 7-2
DUE WEST — No.24 Erskine women's tennis expanded their Confer-ence Carolinas winning streak to 57 Tuesday afternoon as they coasted by Coker College 7-2.
Erskine is now 10-6 overall and 6-0 in the conference for the season.
The Fleet opened the day with a close loss at No. 1 doubles as the Erskine duo of Bignon/Knox fell to Lemar/Blanchard 9-8 (7-5). But the Fleet took the hit in stride and went on to easily win the remaining doubles points.
Despite two close games at No. 2 and No. 3, Erskine dominated singles play.
At No. 2, Erskine's Bignon had a tough time with Blanchard of Coker but was finally able to put her away after a long close match (6-4, 2-6, 7-6 {10-8}).
Erskine's Rollins was not as lucky as she fell to Spencer at No. 3 singles (7-5, 7-6 {7-4}) forfeiting the only point for the Fleet during singles play.
