Florida Southern takes Coker Invitational Championship, Cobras jump to third

ORLANDO, Fla. - Florida Southern College narrowly held off Lander University to take home the Fourth Annual Coker College Invitational Team Championship.

The Mocs won by just one stroke, shooting eight under par (568), while the Bearcats shot seven under par (569). Host Coker College had their best finish in the history of the tournament, jumping five spots from round one to round two to take home a third place finish, shooting four over par (580).

Adam McKinney of Georgia Southwestern was able to hold onto his first round lead, after shooting a second round 69 (-3) giving him a 136 for the tournament.

Judson Eustaquio of Florida Southern was hot on the heels of McKinney, but feel just two shots behind after shooting 69 (-3) for the second round and 138 (-6) over the two days. Just one shot back of Eustaquio was teammate Danny Hoyle with a two day 139 (-5).

For Coker, Chris Marsh (Georgetown, SC) bounced back with a second round 69 (-3), placing him in a tie for 10th, while John LaDow (Pottstown, PA) shot an even par 72. Jimmy Gillam (Tyrone, PA) shot one over 73 on the day, while Trey Bridwell (Greer, SC) shooting a three over 75, with Patrick Kirby firing a four over 76.

Coker will now take a couple of weeks off before hosting yet another tournament, this time at home at the Hartsville Country Club on Oct. 13-14.
