CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson will be without starting defensive linemen Ricky Sapp and backup Jamie Cumbie against the Citadel on Saturday.

The school said Thursday that Sapp, a junior defensive end, is still recovering from a bruised knee in Clemson's 34-10 loss to Alabama last Saturday and would not play.

Cumbie broke his left wrist against the Crimson Tide. He'll have surgery on Monday and will be out the rest of the season. Cumbie, a junior, is eligible for a medical redshirt and could play in 2009 and 2010.

Clemson coach Tommy Bowden says freshman Brandon Thompson would be used at defensive tackle on Saturday. Thompson did not play against Alabama.
