The Hartsville varsity volleyball team has finished the 2008 regular season, and the team will now begin preparations for the playoffs.
The Lady Foxes finished the season with a record of 10-9 and a 6-5 mark in region play. The region record was enough to garner a third-place finish in Region VI AAAA and a trip to the playoffs. The playoff bracket is not set, however, because many teams are finishing regular season play this week.
A third seed in the playoffs will give the Lady Foxes a first round match up against a number two seed in another region. The game, however, will be on the road.
The team finished the regular season with a hard-fought game against the Lady Gamecocks of Sumter. The Lady Foxes fell in four sets, but the game was intense.
“I really feel that we have the talent to beat Sumter,” Hartsville head coach Amanda Easterling said, “but their game was well put together. It was an exciting match, and we hope to play that well in the playoffs.” The coach added the game was probably Hartsville’s best all season.
Easterling said earlier in the season that she believed the team has constantly improved with each game this season.
