»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Chowan University women's soccer team shutout the Coker Lady Cobras by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday night at the Coker Soccer Field.

The shutout, Coker's fourth in as many games, marks the ninth time this season the Lady Cobras have been shutout. The loss drops Coker to 3-12 overall, while Chowan improves to 7-9-1 overall.

Chowan jumped on the board early as Ashley Bradford found the back of the net in the 22nd minute with an assist from Lacy Crafton. Then, just three minutes later, Jacqueline Ferns bounced a shot off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net for the Hawks second goal of the game.

Coker was able to shut down the Hawks in the second half, with Chelsea Beetch (Palmer, AK) picking up five saves in the game. Chowan out shot the Cobras 12-7 , while Coker held the edge in fouls 13-6.

Coker returns to the field on Thursday, as they host Catawba in a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m.
