Hartsville High School will hold its annual Red Fox Oyster Roast and Shrimp Fest at J. Michael's Restaurant on Saturday, Oct. 25, beginning at 3 p.m.
The event will last until 7 p.m.
"This is a very fun event," Hartsville Atheltics Director Phyllis Griggs said. "We have great food and great entertainment."
The event will feature Dan E. Lockemy of "At the Beach" and Billy Scott and the Prophets as entertainment this year. Among the food at the event will be grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, steamed shrimp, low country boil, catfish stew, hushpuppies and definitely oysters. All of the food will be prepared by local chef's including Ed Saleeby Jr.'s grilled shrimp and Charles Holcomb's "raw bar" oysters.
The event is used as a fund raiser for the athletics programs at Hartsville High. Last year's event raised more than $8,000 for the programs, Griggs said, and that money goes to help with the general operating costs of the different sports teams, especially the non-revenue generating teams.
School officials hope the fact that the University of Carolina and Clemson having bye weeks will encourage many to come out to support the Foxes. "This events always promises and provides plenty of wonderful food, great music and brings friends together to support Hartsville High School athletics," events coordinators said.
Tickets for the event are $30 and can be purchased at the following places: Hobnob Gourmet, First Citizens, J. Michael's, the Hartsville High School main office, the HHS coaching staff and may also be purchased at the door. For additional information, please call 383-4134.
