CONWAY — Seth Moreland’s 223 yards rushing Friday was the 11th highest total in Conway school history.
His two touchdowns also helped the Tigers earn a 28-21 victory over Hartsville in a key Region 6-4A matchup.
Moreland’s second TD run early in the fourth quarter broke a 14-14 tie, and the Tigers added another score as the defense clamped down to help Conway improve to 7-1 and 2-0 in the region.
The Red Foxes fall to 5-3 and 1-1.
Moreland got Conway on the board with nine seconds left in the first quarter as the Tigers took a 7-0 lead into the half.
Hartsville’s offense, which had been stifled in the first half, came out with a five-minute, 56-yard drive that included three third-down coversions. Quarterback Shawn Smith tied the score with 6:39 left.
Conway regained the lead on its next drive with a TD pass, but Hartsville tied the score again on a 79-yard run by Smith.
Not to be outdone, Moreland’s 59-yard run moments later gave Conway a 21-14 advantage, and Dallas Bellamy’s 11-yard run gave the Tigers the lead for good.
Ronnie Jackson scored from 4 yards out with 29 seconds left for the Red Foxes’ final score.
