Three Pee Dee basketball coaches and one former one have been selected to coach in this year’s South Carolina All-star games.
Hartsville’s Pat Hewitt, Wilson’s Ann Talbert, Lake City’s Willie Thomas and Socastee’s Tommy Johnson, who coached at West Florence and Wilson, were named Thursday as head coaches for this year’s games.
Hewitt and Johnson will represent South Carolina in Carolinas All-Star game, which puts the top players in the Palmetto State against the top players in North Carolina.
Hewitt will coach the girls team, while Johnson will handle the boys duties.
No date and time has been set for the game but it will be held in Time Warner Cable Arena, the home of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats. Last year’s game was held prior to a Bobcats game.
Talbert and Thomas were named as South head coaches in the the North-South game March 21 at Myrtle Beach High School.
Talbert will coach the girls team, while Thomas will handle the boys duties.
CE Murray’s Darren Mazcyk was named the alternate head coach for the South.
