Hartsville High School’s volleyball team has entered the thick of region competition, and the team has won three games in a row capped off with Wednesday’s win over South Florence in straight sets.
The Lady Foxes defeated Conway Thursday, Oct. 2, and West Florence on Tuesday night in what head coach Amanda Easterling called a “very intense” match.
Hartsville dominated Wednesday’s match against South Florence demonstrating a level of talent that was clearly superior to the Lady Bruins.
The intensity of Tuesday’s match with West Florence began to show in later matches, however, as the girls began to show signs of fatigue. They did put the Lady Bruins away in straight sets, however, as a result of solid team play.
The Lady Foxes also demonstrated a level of cooperation and teamwork that has been slowly developing throughout the season.
“I think the team has been doing well,” Easterling said. “The team seems to be more comfortable in their positions and the style of volleyball we play.
“(Wednesday’s game) should have been a blow out,” she added of the contest with South Florence.
Easterling said the end of the season is near and homecoming week may have distracted the team a little.
Hartsville (10-7)(6-2) will be in action again on Thursday, Oct. 16, when they travel to Myrtle Beach to face Carolina Forest at 6 p.m.
