Students, parents, teachers and alumni turned out for a big weekend at Coker College for the Centennial Homecoming Celebration.
The week of festivities began with spirit dress up days for college students Monday through Friday that included dressing like super heroes, wearing clothing inside out and Coker College colors.
The school hosted Centennial Jeopardy at the C.W. Coker Auditorium on Tuesday and hosted karaoke on Wednesday night.
On Friday, the school hosted a nine-hole golf tournament at Fox Creek Golf Course for students, parents and alumni. The Lady Cobras volleyball team also played its homecoming game against King College. Those festivities were followed by a bonfire and carnival on the college's Byerly Lot.
On Saturday, the school hosted an alumni men's and women's basketball game, a baseball game versus USC- Salkehatchie, a home-run derby for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, two inductions into the Coker Athletic Hall of Fame, and the crowning of the 2008 Homecoming Court during half time of the Cobras' soccer match versus King College. And, of course, fireworks.
The students finished out the night with a guest DJ in the Cobra Den.
"Coker Centennial Homecoming Weekend was exceptional," said Coker College Director of Marketing and Communications James Jolly, "from the standing room only crowd Friday night for the Theatre of Illusion to the magnificent fireworks display Saturday night enjoyed by audiences on and off campus. Every event, and there were several for alumni, parents and students, was well-attended and everything ran smoothly. It was a very successful weekend for both Coker College and the Hartsville Community."
