The Hartsville High School girls’ golf team played host for two matches this week and finished in second place in both matches.
On Tuesday, the ladies faced Chesterfield, McBee and Richland Northeast at Hartsville Country Club. Chester-field finished in first place with a total combined score of 177. Hartsville followed with a 205. McBee and Richland Northeast finished out the competitors with 219 and 248, respectively.
Hartsville’s Claire Brown shot the lowest of the day with a 38. Amy Grant and Sarah Floyd also shot personal bests for the season. The match moved the team’s record to 3-3 on the season.
On Wednesday, the team was back in action at the Hartsville Country Club in a match against Lexington and Lancaster. Lexington won the match with a total score of 180. Hartsville followed with a 213 and Lancaster finished with a 218.
Taylor Brown had Hartsville’s lowest score with a 42. Cameren Kinsley and Callie Tyner scored their lowest rounds of the season for the Lady Foxes.
“Our other team members really stepped up to the plate,” head coach Alison Furia said Thursday. “ We played five teams this week and came out on top against three of them. Their performance this week makes me hopeful going into our region match next Wednesday.”
The match set Hartsville’s current record at 4-4.
Hartsville will travel to Ft. Jackson in Columbia to take on Richland Northeast on Monday, Oct. 6, at 4:15 p.m.
