The Lady Foxes’ varsity volleyball team faced region foes Sumter on Thursday, Sept. 25, and Carolina Forest on Monday.
The team dropped both games, however, losing to Sumter in straight sets 16-25, 24-26 and 20-25, and losing to Carolina Forest 25-16, 16-25, 29-25 and 20-25.
The ladies started off very well in game one Monday against Carolina Forest and played some of their best volleyball of the season. Carolina Forest managed a comeback after losing the first set, however, and defeated Hartsville in the final three sets.
“The game started off really good,” Hartsville head coach Amanda Easterling said. “We dominated the first game. The majority of (Carolina Forest’s) points were gained off a rally, but we really lost it in the second game.”
Easterling said the ladies became discouraged after the second-set loss, and Carolina Forest took home the win. “We have more work to do,” Easterling said.
The team’s record falls to 7-7 on the season. They faced Sumter Thursday night and will travel to face the Lady Knights of West Florence on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
