FLORENCE — The Francis Marion women’s basketball team has added a pair of Division I transfers to its roster.
Shana Franks, who played at East Carolina, and Danelle Downs, who played at Charleston Southern, will join the Patriot squad in the fall.
The 5-foot-7 Franks, will have two years of eligibility at FMU. Last year, she appeared in 27 games and averaged 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. As a freshman, she averaged 1.6 ppg and 1.7 rpg as the Pirates Conference USA championship.
Downs, 6-0, will have three years to play for the Patriots.
As a freshman at CSU, she averaged 1.1 ppg and 0.7 rpg in 14 games.
“Shana is physical and has a good feel for the game,” FMU coach Heather Macy said. She can play either guard position and can defend baseline to baseline. We are looking forward to seeing her excel within our system.
“Danelle can rebound, defend, and run the floor in transition. She will give us a strong post presence that we need to elevate to the next level.”
FMU tennis players earn honors
