FLORENCE — The Florence RedWolves announced the signing of four more players for their roster.
Sophomore Herman Petzold, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound infielder from Notre Dame, junior pitcher Bruce Cameron, 6-0, 175 from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark., Junior pitcher Andre Benjamin, 6-3 225 from Grand Valley State and sophomore Andrew Guerra, a 6-0, 175 infielder/outfielder from Saint Louis University, will join the team.
“Petzold is a scrappy guy with speed who will see time all over the infield. Cameron is a five-tool outfielder who will help us out on the mound as well,” first-year RedWolves coach Wes Davis said.
“Benjamin is a solid
left-hander who is coming off a 10 win season, and Guerra is a gifted infielder who has already set the single-season doubles record at St Louis as a sophomore with 21.”
More improvements for Legion Field
The renovation project for Legion Field got a huge boost earlier this week.
The Florence County Council approved $7,500 for Legion Field improvements including fencing, railing on bleachers, hand dryers in the restrooms and repairs to broken concrete.
New umpires for the CPL
The Professional Baseball Umpire Corp (PBUC), a Minor League Baseball wholly-owned subsidiary, has entered an agreement to provide its reserve umpires to the Coastal Plain League.
The agreement allows reserve list umpires to continue to develop their skills in a competitive environment, while waiting for the call from PBUC to work minor league baseball games.
Media/Fan night
