Browning moves on to quarterfinals

COLUMBIA — West Florence junior Bobby Browning is three wins away from a state title.
Browning won both of his matches Friday at the Class 4A individual tennis tournament in Columbia.
Browning defeated Lexington’s Bobby Jordan 6-2, 7-5 and Greenwood’s Edward Snead 7-5, 6-2, to advance to today’s quarterfinals, which begin at 9 a.m.
Two other West players, Pruitt Williams and Matthew Canelon, are in the consolation bracket.
Williams was defeated by Easley’s Joel Cook, 1-6, 6-4, 10-8. He won his next match by default over Wilson’s Tim Jiang.
Canelon lost to Josh Cook, 6-2, 6-2 before beating Darlington’s Alex Howle 6-2, 6-1.
