FLORENCE — Francis Marion baseball coach Art Inabinet has announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Drew Watcher of Sumter to national letters of intent to attend FMU this fall and play for the Patriots in 2009.
Watcher (5-foot-9, 155-pounds) is a graduate of Laurence Manning Academy, after also attending Sumter High School.
He was named to the 2008 SCISA All-State Team and was selected to play in this year’s SCISCA AAA North-South All-Star Game.
“Drew has a fastball in the mid-80s and a good college breaking ball,” Inabinet said. He should be able to step in and contribute right away.”
