FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Florence RedWolves got back to their winning ways Thursday and continued their dominance against Fayetteville with a 3-2 victory in 12 innings.
The RedWolves improve to 19-5 overall and 6-0 against Fayetteville with the win.
Florence scored twice in the first inning behind Barrett Kleinknecht’s RBI double and Alec Lowrey’s RBI single.
Fayetteville got a run back in the fourth and another in the seventh.
Kleinknecht proved to be the hero with an RBI in the top of the 12th inning.
Jamie Walczak went 3-for-6 to lead Florence. Myckie Lugbauer was 3-for-5 and Lowery was 2-for-6.
Florence starter Rob Kumbatovic got a no decision after tossing six and two third innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
Tio McLean (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
Florence will travel to Wilmington today for a 7 p.m. game.
