RedWolves continue hot streak

COLUMBIA — Less than 24 hours after clinching a division title, the Florence RedWolves didn’t miss a beat.
Second baseman Herman Petzold’s go-ahead, two-run homer in the top of the seventh helped Florence to a 5-3 win over Columbia on Tuesday.
Florence, which has won nine of its last 10 games, leads the CPL with a league-best 18-4 mark.
Andre Benjamin improved to 3-0 by pitching six strong innings.
Benjamin allowed just one hit and one earned run while striking out five in the game.
Tio McLean pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fifth save of the season.
Cody Stringer, Barrett Kleinknecht and Keegan Morrrow each added a hit and an RBI in the victory. Morrow also scored two runs and was on base for Petzold’s homer, which snapped a 2-2 tie.
The RedWolves trailed 2-1 going into the seventh but tied the game on Morrow’s RBI single, which scored Andrew Guerra.
Reliever Robert Lake (0-2) took the loss for the Blowfish, allowing three earned runs in an inning of work.
Shortstop Branfy Aries had a hit and scored two runs for Columbia (7-16).
