FLORENCE – The Florence RedWolves scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 5-4 Coastal Plain League win over the Columbia Blowfish on Monday night at Legion Field.
With the win, the RedWolves (17-4) clinch the CPL’s South Division first-half title and a spot in the Petitt Cup playoffs.
With one out in the Florence ninth, Jamie Walczak singled and Keegan Morrow walked to put RedWolves at first and second.
Blake Walker then singled to left and moved to second on a throwing error by the left fielder. Walczak scored from second on the play to pull the RedWolves within 4-2 while Morrow wound up at third.
After Myckie Lugbauer reached on a single to load the bases, Alec Lowrey singled home Morrow and Walker to tie the game 4-4.
Herman Petzold then walked to load the bases before Keon Graves lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored pinch-runner Andrew Guerra for the 5-4 win.
L.A. Owens (2-0) pitched two innings of relief for the win. He gave up a solo home run to Jesse Barbaro in the eighth and struck out one.
Sid Fallaw (0-1) took the loss. In 1 2/3 innings, he gave up five hits, four runs (all unearned), walked two and struck out two.
The RedWolves play at Columbia today before hosting the Forest City Owls on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
