Zoe Hampton of Hartsville finished with a 5-1 record at the Lexington County Rising Stars Tennis Tournament held on May 31, at the Lexington County Tennis Complex.
Zoe is the daughter of Hartsville residents Marvin and Sheila Hampton.
This was Zoe’s first tennis tournament, yet she made it to the championship match after only losing two games.
She defeated Danielle Johnson 4-0 in the first round of the tournament.
She then defeated Brooke Patton 4-2 in the second round, followed by a 4-2 win over Lauren Traufler in round three.
She defeated Brianne Hall 4-0 in round four, and then defeated Sara Bishop 4-0 in round five.
Those five wins made Zoe the winner of Flight A of the tournament and pitted her against Kelly Lassiter of Irmo in the championship round.
Zoe lost, however, to Lassiter in the championship 4-0.
Zoe trains with private tennis instuctor Rick Fountain, who coaches in the Hartsville area.
Zoe competed in the 10 and under division.
