WILMINGTON, N.C. — Despite getting six solid innings from Bruce Cameron in his first start of the season, the Florence RedWolves fell 2-1 to the Wilmington Sharks on Monday night.
Cameron gave up three hits, one earned run, walked five and struck out four.
“Bruce was exceptional and their guy, Tyler White, threw exceptionally well, too,” said Florence coach Wes Davis. “The wind always blows in at Wilmington. It’s a big field and it was a tough place to hit tonight.”
White worked six hitless innings for Wilmington. He gave up one unearned run, walked three and struck out seven.
With the game tied 1-1, the Sharks pushed across the winning run in the eighth.
Neal Pritchard drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored on a single by John Nester.
The RedWolves host a doubleheader with the Wilson Tobs today at 6 p.m.
