FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Kent Altman was too tough for Fayetteville.
The Redwolves pitcher struck out eight and tossed a complete game in the 3-0 win over the SwampDogs in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
"Kent was phenominal," Florence coach Wes Davis said. "Playing back-to-back doubleheaders, you really need good pitching and he really bailed us out."
Florence lost the second game 2-0.
In the opener Barrett Kleinknecht and Brett Thomas each had RBI for the RedWolves, who were playing their second straight doubleheader.
Florence split with Columbia on Friday, losing the first game 3-2 in 15 innings before winning the second 3-1.
