Hartsville native Jordan Lyles got his first win as a professional on Sunday, July 20, as his Greeneville Astros defeated Princeton 3-1, according to a release from the team. Lyles gave up five hits and struck out seven in five innings of work.

The pitcher has wasted no time making his presence felt in the Appalachian League either.

Currently, Lyles has a 1-1 record with an ERA of 3.08 and 32 strikeouts. He managed the 32 strikeouts in 26.1 innings on the hill. He gave up 24 hits and 9 earned runs in that span as well.

Lyles has held opponents to a .233 batting average in his first outings. In a press release by the team last week, Lyles said he is adjusting nicely to professional play, and his numbers obviously support that.

The six-foot four-inch pitcher was a first-round draft pick by the Houston Astros in the MLB Draft.
