ASHEBORO, N.C. — The fans that came to McCrary Park on Monday night for the 2008 CPL All-Star Home Run Derby weren’t disappointed.
Sixteen sluggers hit 58 homers throughout the night.
In the end Florence’s Barrett Kleinknecht of the American team outslugged Petersburg’s Greyson Schram of the National team.
Schram hit four homers in the final round for a total of 12 homers for 36 total points.
But Kleinknect also hit four in the final round for a total of 13 homers for 39 points.
“This award is a testament to his hard work,” Florence and American All-Star team coach Wes Davis said. “He beats me to the ballpark every day.
“He wants to be the best and he practices like he wants to be the best.”
