GASTONIA, N.C. — Chad Dawkins’ RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted Gastonia to a 4-3 win over Florence Thursday night.
Tommy Roebuck (2-2) earned the win for the Grizzlies.

“It’s frustrating to come out of (Gastonia) without a win,” Florence coach Wes Davis said. “I’m proud of our guys. They played hard until the last pitch.”

Tio McLean (1-2) took the loss for Florence, allowing one earned run in a third-of-an inning.

Josh Callazo hit a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to break open a scoreless tie and give Gastonia a 2-0 lead.

Florence (26-12 overall, 6-5 second half) got the runs back in top of the ninth on consecutive RBI singles by Brett Thomas and Bruce Cameron.

For the second consecutive night, Andrew Guerra scored on a Blake Walker triple to give Florence a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th inning.

Florence hosts Columbia tonight at Legion Field. First pitch is at 7:30.
