CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) _ Clemson sprinter Travis Padgett was named to the U.S. track and field team competing at the Beijing Olympics next month.
The 21-year-old Padgett, who's a junior, finished fourth in the 100 meters at the U.S. Olympic trials earlier this month.
The roster was released this week.
While only the first three finishers qualify, Padgett was added to the pool of runners eligible for the 4x100 meter relay. He's only an alternate for the 100 meter event.
Padgett joins former Clemson sprinter Shawn Crawford on the team. Crawford is the defending Olympic gold medal winner at 200 meters.
