On June 21, Olanta held its first ever end-of-season day.
This celebrated an end to the 2008 baseball and softball seasons.
This was a special day for the town and children of Olanta and other participating communities for several reasons.
This year Olanta Recreation was governed by a New Recreation committee, GOYOINC, or Greater Olanta Youth Organization, Incorporated.
This is a Christian faith based non-profit organization that consists of a board of 7 members who help organize, coach and mentor the youth of the town of Olanta and surrounding communities.
Olanta grew its baseball/softball program more than 50 percent from this past year.
The recreation committee gave out trophies and BBQ plates to all players and sold plates to all spectators to raise money for their upcoming recreation programs.
Olanta is preparing to offer football for ages 9-10 and 11-12, Cheerleading for girls 7-13 and Soccer for all ages, for all children interested regarding of town location.
