DARLINGTON- This Labor Day weekend Darlington Racway will host it's inaugural Darlington Historic Racing Festival. The festival will bring back stock and indy cars as well as drivers of the past for the fans to enjoy. The event will have a 45 car field which will also include roadsters, sprint cars and modifieds.

“This list is only a sampling of some of the beautiful vintage race cars that will be on display and making laps at Darlington Raceway during the Inaugural Darlington Historic Racing Festival,” said Darlington Raceway president, Chris Browning. “I am really excited to see some of the most historic cars and drivers from oval track racing turn laps at the track ‘Too Tough to Tame’ on Labor Day weekend.”

Fans can look forward to getting up close and personal with some of the most beautiful and historic race cars in existence today including a 1963 Kurtis KK500L Indy Car driven by Junior Johnson at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Other cars highlighting this inaugural event include: 1959 Simoniz Special Indy Roadster driven by A.J. Foyt, 1972 Monte Carlo Stock Car driven by Jack Ingram, Donnie Allison and David Pearson and a 1957 Kurtis 500G Indy Roadster campaigned by infamous NASCAR car owner Smokey Yunick.

Racing personalities who have already agreed to participate in the inaugural event include legendary driver and car owner Junior Johnson, Daytona 500 winner Buddy Baker, three-time NASCAR Cup champion Darrell Waltrip, ten-time Darlington Raceway winner David Pearson and championship car owners Bud Moore and Cotton Owens.

The Darlington Historic Racing Festival will offer fans two days of excitement featuring question and answer sessions with the legends, exhibition laps by the historic race cars, autograph sessions, a large display and vendor area, car corrals, kid zone and a variety of other activities.

Don’t miss your chance to see stock cars return to Darlington Raceway this Labor Day weekend, August 30-31, for the Inaugural Darlington Historic Racing Festival. Tickets for the event are $15 per day or $25 for the entire weekend, kids age 12 and under will be admitted free. Camping is also available for this event, tent sites can be purchased for $10, RV spots are $25.
