COLUMBIA — The Florence RedWolves finished their first half of the season in style.
The RedWolves used a four-run second inning to defeat Columbia 6-3 on Monday.
Florence, which clinched the South Division last week, finishes the first half with a 20-7 record.
“It was a good way to end the first half,” Florence coach Wes Davis said. “Our guys really responded well with a day off.”
Barrett Kleinknecht drove in three runs, two coming on a triple in the second inning. Kleinknecht also hit a solo homer in the first.
Blake Walker, Cody Stinger and Alec Lowery each added two hits. All but one Florence starter had a hit in the game.
New addition Logan Munson pitched two innings of relief to get the win. Munson and Andrew Ford, Florence’s starter, both joined the team Saturday.
Steven Grife pitched the final three innings for his first save. Davis said he wanted to get Grife, usually a starter, a couple of innings of work before his start Saturday against Wilson.
Sean Sullivan led Columbia with three hits.
Florence hosts Petersburg tonight at 7:30.
