Hartsville’s Jordan Scott’s 30-point performance was overshadowed Friday night by a 19-point loss to county-rival Darlington in boys’ basketball action.
Darlington had a 47-30 lead at halftime and built as much as a 40-point lead in the second half. They won 93-74. Donnie James, who scored 24 points on the night, led the Falcons. Brad Knox added 15, and Maxie Jacobs kicked in 11 for the Falcons.
The effort is a disappointed for the Foxes, whose defense was able to hold Crestwood to 54 points in the opening game of the season.
A bright spot for the Foxes, however, is Scott, who was held to six points against Crestwood.
The Falcons are 2-0 on the season and will face South Florence in Florence Thursday night.
Hartsville’s record is now even at 1-1. The team faced Marlboro County Tuesday night.
Both teams will meet again Friday night at 6 p.m. in Hartsville for the second and final match up of the season between the rivals.
