CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Everett Golson threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns and Myrtle Beach scored 17 unanswered points in the second half to beat defending champion Chester 31-21 on Saturday in the state Class AAA championship.
Everett Golson connected with Demazio Skelton on a 33-yard pass to give Myrtle Beach a 21-14 lead in the third quarter. Jordan Butler made a 35-yard field goal to extend Myrtle Beach's lead to 10 points with 4:09 left in the third.
The Seahawks added another score in the fourth quarter when Golson threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Steven Cobb to increase their lead to 31-14 with 6:35 left in the game.
Golson earlier had a 12-yard touchdown pass to Skelton and Daiquone Ford scored on a 19-yard run for Myrtle Beach. Ford ran for 108 yards on 14 carries and Jamere Valentine had seven catches for 114 yards.
Tony McNeal led Chester (11-4) with 167 yards passing, which included his 11-yard passing score to Fred Lee and a 37-yard touchdown pass to Devin Jackson. Julius Pendergrass ran for 63 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown.
