Jordan Lyles is moving up.
The Hartsville native, a pitcher in the Houston Astros organization, was promoted Wednesday from Greeneville (Tenn.) of the Appalachian League to Tri-Cities (N.Y.) in the New York-Penn League.
Lyles was the 38th overall pick in June’s Major League Baseball draft. The 17-year-old started 13 games for Greeneville, compiling a 3-3 record with a 3.99 ERA and 64 strikeouts and 10 walks in 49 2/3 innings.
Lyles has won his last two starts, tossing 10 innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 18 batters while walking none.
