Bottom line
No team might benefit more from realignment than Lake City.
The Panthers go from having to play foes like Wilson and Marlboro County to playing team from the Grand Strand, which doesn’t have a dominant team except for Myrtle Beach.
Lake City hung with the Seahawks last year in the playoffs, nearly pulling off the upset.
Many of those players are back as Lake City returns 18 starters, including tailback Shon Carson. The sophomore rushed for more than a 1,000 yards as a freshman and is only going to get better.
Lake City also returns eight starters on defense.
“We are hoping to improve on last year’s accomplishment,” Lake City coach Justin Gentry said. “We made it to the playoffs and now are working on hosting a playoff game.
“I feel that we have made great strides during the off season, but only time will tell where we stand.”
