Bottom Line
The Bears are two-time defending Class A Division I lower state champions.
But this season will be a test for even them.
Carvers Bay will have to replace 18 starters, including All-Pee Dee memebers Johnathan Holmes, Dyrell Porchea and Carlos Britton.
The Bears return their quarterback and a versatile athlete in Clayton Geathers, as well as Division-I calibur defensive lineman Kwame Geathers.
The Bears will have no time to lick their wounds, though, as Region 8-A is a week-in and week-out test.
“ It’s real tough losing18 starters, and it’s going to be a big gap from where we were,” Thompson said. “We’ve mainly got to get some experience under our belts. We’re going to have to slow it down and take into account they are still leanring and we have to be patient.”
