Head Coach Leon Sturkey and the Lady Foxes return to handle some unfinished business, and are eager to maintain the momentum that was an amazing run to the third round of the Class 2A playoffs.
The Lady Foxes still have their five starters, with All-State center Rhodi Gause teaming up with Freshman Geneika Brantley. Gause and Brantley are enforcers in the painted area and dominate with shot blocking and rebounding. The tremendous athletic ability the Lady Foxes possess should set a very fast up-tempo game with a lethal transition attack. Junior point guard Shaquita Taylor is perfect for that style of play. “QT3” Taylor has taken the initiative to improve her ball handling skills, coming closer to completing an already solid game that includes “lights out” shooting ability. Senior forward Delecia Williams is a competitor with all-around skills. She can play every position on the floor and provides scoring, rebounding, and most importantly, defense.
Amber and Amira Timmons are vital to the line-up and continue to improve, thanks to the habit of working hard during the offseason with AAU basketball. The twins know the game as well as they know each other.
Freshman Gabrielle Favor could be the “X-Factor” for the Lady Foxes. Despite her youth, Favor has a high basketball I.Q. and court awareness. Ranked #7 in the state in Class 2A, Marion is focused on the goal of a State championship, and will continue to play for the respect that was so hard to earn for the program.
