Player Perspective: "We plan on putting up some big numbers, crash the boards and run the floor a lot," says Dongi Moore. "I think we have a good chance in the region, we just have to play as a team," Freshman forward Charles Green said.
Creek Bridge Head Coach Paul Hudacko: "This group, I've had them since they were freshman, so this will be their third year together. Hopefully that experience will help us out."
Opportunity to make big strides this season in region play. "I knew two years ago when I took over, I knew that if I kept the young kids together and developed them, that maybe when they were juniors and seniors we would be able to be successful again. We’re hoping that experience and just all of the hard work they've put in the last two years would start to pay off this year.
When going over the talent Hudacko has faith in his team. "We have the potential to be good, it's just the matter of fact if they put in the work and the effort to draw that talent out of them and give everything that they've got," adding that it's important to play at a high level. "I'm expecting good things from this group, and we have seniors that work hard and are good leaders."
Gameplan: "We're going to try and take advantage of our speed and count on our experience. Make it an up-and-down game, spread out the defense and limit turnovers. We have some quality guards this year, and they take care of the basketball. They've known pressure basketball since seventh grade, so these guards should be able to handle it." Three years varsity experience with Leroy Hemingway, coach Hudacko has worked with the veteran point guard for four full seasons.
Warriors Report: Opportunity might be knocking for the Creek Bridge Warriors to make a serious postseason run in Class A basketball. Coach Paul Hudacko has spent a great deal of time assembling a young team with excellent chemistry. Region 8-A has always been tough, but doesn't seem to have a clear cut favorite, allowing the Warriors a chance to throw their hat into the ring. Delonta Smith and Bruce Williams provide senior leadership, along with Latory Robinson and Dongi Moore. The experience factor should kick-in with the floor general Leroy Hemingway being a four year starter. Hemingway has great ball control and court awareness. Freshman Charles Green and younger brother Daquan Williams are developing into young stars ahead of their time. Charles Green was the team's second leading scorer as an eighth grader, and Daquan looks to contribute at the same age. Both improved their games playing AAU basketball over the summer with Eric Favor's Pee Dee Magic team.
Hudakco says Zamario Cooper's game has also improved tremendously. Shalmar Brown, David Banks, Chris Williams, will also be key factors in the squad's collective effort building a program.
