Line up is:
6 p.m. - Dillon v Hemingway
7 p.m. - Conway v Marion
8 p.m. - Latta v Marlboro County
9 p.m. - Mullins v Wilson
Ten points to consider
1. Region 7-AA will feature the most entertaining games in recent memory. Marion and Mullins will battle for the region crown against the fierce competition from Patrick Jenkins and the Loris Lions, Kingstree’s towering frontline, and Dillon’s “gruesome twosome,” Alyn McRae and Lashay Page.
2. Creek Bridge will showcase its improvement with quality wins this season. Leroy Hemingway is poised to breakout and Charles Green has tremendous potential.
3. Marion will miss the talent from last year’s team, but won’t miss a beat with the talent they have in 2007. Carlton Brown refuses to lose and once Mike Myer’s joins the team, the Foxes should close the regular season on fire.
4. From here on out, the Mullins Auctioneers will a wide open window in contending for a state championship. This year’s team is going down as one of the most talented.
5. Auctioneer point guard Eric Smith will be drawing major attention this season. Recruiters are hot on his trail, with Clemson, South Carolina, and Oklahoma visiting “E-Wade.” His confidence is high, and he appears comfortable taking on more of leadership role.
In addition, two time defending national champion Florida Gators is showing serious interest along with the prestigious programs of Wake Forest, Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland, Penn State, UConn, Alabama, and Indiana.
6. Stacy “Flip” Wilson is the “greatest scorer in line.” This kid is a ticket worth buying and Swamp Fox Justin Gause will set a few box office records himself.
7. Pee Dee Academy had one of the area’s most talented players in Logan Rogers. The team’s solid offensive execution and hot shooting, will get valuable production from Arnett James. Kyle Drew and Rand Waller should also be valuable contributors.
8. All of the boys varsity basketball programs should get through the opening rounds of the playoffs. One just might be heading to the Colonial Center.
9. Seqwan McFarland, Andrew Crawford, Stacy Wilson, Eric Smith, and Donte Cooper are the like a throwback “Michigan Fab Five.” However, the Dillon Wildcats are the biggest threats to the Auctioneers and Foxes. Creek Bridge will find out where they stand when they face the Hemingway Tigers.
10. Pete Ellis’ intensity, Paul Hudacko’s discipline, Jerry Coleman’s experience, and Mark Gerald’s teaching all make them perfect coaches for their respective teams.
