Sears comes to WBTW from WBNG in Binghamton, N.Y. where he worked as a one-man-band reporter. Sears covered the Binghamton shooting rampage in April when a gunman shot and killed 13 people inside the American Civic Association building.
Prior to working at WBNG, Sears worked as a news anchor and reporter at WMNC AM-FM-TV in Morganton, N.C. At WMNC, Sears reported on President Barack Obama's speech at Hickory High School.
Before working in news, Sears spent three seasons in minor league baseball, working as the play-by-play voice of the Camden Riversharks, Kannapolis Intimidators, and Hickory Crawdads.
Sears graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where he majored in broadcast journalism. Sears also took journalism courses at Harvard.
