Gators get by Gamecocks again
COLUMBIA — Tim Tebow tied the Southeastern Conference touchdown record and No. 1 Florida gained its first perfect league season in 13 years with a 24-14 victory over South Carolina on Saturday.
The Gators (10-0, 8-0) remained on track for a third national title in four years. They again called on their SEC-leading defense to save things against former coach Steve Spurrier, who looked as if he’d figured out a few cracks in Florida’s front line.

Coker women hope to turn things around
The Coker women’s basketball team entered last season with high hopes as it looked to establish relevance in Conference Carolinas.
But the 2008-09 campaign turned into a repeat of the season before. Once again, key injuries were the story as the Cobras stumbled to an 11-17 overall record, though they did post a respectable 10-12 conference record.
Spiller does it all in Tigers’ victory
C.J. Spiller became the first player in Clemson history to record a touchdown passing, rushing and receiving in the same game, helping the No. 24 Tigers defeat North Carolina State 43-23 on Saturday.

Gamecocks win season opener
Devan Downey scored 23 points and as South Carolina opened its season with an 88-50 win over Alabama A&M on Friday night.
Downey, the all-Southeastern Conference guard who passed up the NBA to return for his senior season, made his first five shots from the field, including three 3-pointers. He finished the night 7-of-9 from the field, hitting four of five 3s.
