McLeod Park Majors win easily

FLORENCE — Austin Drummond hit his third home run in as many days, a three-run shot in the fourth inning to help McLeod Park beat Laurens 9-1 on Monday in the Majors division of the Dixie Youth state tournament at Freedom Florence.

Drummond’s blast was part of a four-run third inning that staked the home team to a 4-1 lead after five.

McLeod Park, which plays Lake Marion at 6 p.m. today, scored five in the top of the sixth to blow the game open.

Grayson Cottingham went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI for the Florence team, while Steven Calcutt had two hits and two RBI. Calcutt also picked up the win on the mound.
