Little league baseball all-stars gearing up for tournament games

All-Stars have come ready to play.

This past week Marion and Mullins 10-year-olds and under all-star baseball teams played a friendly scrimmage in preparation for a sub-district tournament event that began Monday at the City of Dillon Sports Complex.

As the teams took to the field at the Mullins recreation park located on Gapway Street, a few fans took to the stands to check out the talent preparing with just under a week of practice time under their belts.

Marion coaches Chad Herlong, Michael Hayes and Jackie Elliott encouraged their team to play with confidence.

The Marion all-star roster includes Brent Herlong, Darius Hunt, Cam Copley, Justin Elliott, Jacob Erwin, Russell Morgan, Carson White, Ethan Alford, Rodney Dickerson, “Pokey” Lightfoot, Ronnie King and Matthew Hayes.

Mullins coaches Tim Felder, Brad Johnson and Glenn Collins said they feel good about their team of young players with a majority of 9-year-olds that will return next season.

The Mullins all-star roster includes Hayden Panos, Nick Collins, McKinley Smith, D.J. Atkinson, Andrew Thigpen, Timmy Felder, Xavier Leggette, Preston Lyons, Brandon Carter, Matthew Stordy, Nicholas Jenkins and Zach Shelley.

Both teams feature a strong line up of batters.

The Mullins recreation also plays host to the Dixie Major League all-star baseball sub-district tournament this week with kids ages 11- and 12-years-old.
Coaches Bobby Hill, Jimmy Stephens and Daniel Weeks are getting their squad prepared.
Teams from Clarendon, Sumter, Dillon and Latta will take part in the event.

The Mullins all-star team includes Caleb Hill, Dalton Rowe, J.R. Serna, Stephen Goodyear, Dustin Goodyear, Keith Browne, Tavon Swinton, Rakell Floyd, Clay Martin, Jesse Sawyer and Chris Watts.

Welcome to the Major League. Mullins Dixie Majors all-stars Chris Watts, Jesse Sawyer, Clay Martin, Rakell Floyd, Tavon Swinton, Keith Browne, Dustin Goodyear, Stephen Goodyear, Dalton Rowe, J.R. Serna and Caleb Hill along with coaches Bobby Hill and Jimmy Stephens are hosting the sub-district tournament this week at the Mullins recreation park.
