Grand Strand swimmers gather for weekly competition

Thursday nights this summer are swim meet nights at the Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.

A couple of hundred young people from 10 different teams in Horry and Georgetown Counties hit the water and the competition was fierce.

Swimmers from 5- 18 were in the pool in four main events—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly plus team relays.

The summer swim team meets run through the end of the month with the championship meet set for Aug. 1.
