The Lake City High School varsity football team will play host to St. James for homecoming on Friday.
The Panthers will be returning to action after a 35-14 loss at Myrtle Beach this past Friday that snapped Lake City’s 10-game winning streak, which dated back to the 2008 season.
The loss dropped Lake City to 5-1 overall and 0-1 in Region 7-3.
The Lake City Panthers committed two early turnovers and spotted the Myrtle Beach Seahawks 21 first-quarter points.
Myrtle Beach capitalized on an interception and a fumble deep in Lake City territory and scored a third time all within the first six minutes of the game.
Shon Carson led the Panthers’ ground attack with 161 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Antwon Wallace scored the Panthers’ other touchdown and rushed for 51 yards on eight carries. Quarterback DaShawn Butler added 68 yards on 12 carries.
Friday’s game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Ward Memorial Stadium.
