The Lake City Panthers varsity football team set up this week’s matchup with defending AAA State Champion Myrtle Beach Seahawks by dominating the Crestwood Knights 41-0 in heavy rains Friday night.

The Lake City offense rolled up 340 total yards, with 320 of those on the ground. Shon Carson led the way with 173 yards and four TDs, while Sheldon Robinson pitched in 75 yards and one touchdown. Kevin Brand added a first-quarter scoring plunge to round out the Panther scoring.

Lake City’s defense limited Crestwood to 130 total yards and an average of 2.47 yards per carry. The “Blue D” also caused five Crestwood turnovers.

The Myrtle Beach Seahawks completed last season with a sparkling 14-1 record, their only blemish following a trip to Lake City.

Kickoff for Friday’s game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Myrtle Beach.
