Lake City to face Crestwood after 46-27 victory at Manning

Lake City will play host to Crestwood on Friday in its final nonregion game, which follows the Panthers’ 46-27 victory over Manning.

Lake City took advantage of five Manning turnovers and four touchdowns by Shon Carson to top the Monarchs 46-27 this past Friday night.

Carson rushed for 201 yards on 27 carries. Quarterback DaShawn Butler added 59 yards on 11 carries, and Sheldon Robinson gained 57 yards on four rushes. The Panthers’ offense totaled 466 yards n the night.

Lake City took an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter, when Carson took a hand-off from Butler and ran along the right sideline for a 39-yard score. Cody Cooper scored again for the Panthers on an eight-yard power run up the middle to give Lake City a 12-0 lead. Carson scored his second touchdown of the night on a three-yard run. Martin Cooper’s extra-point kick gave Lake City a 19-0 edge.

Carson scored again in the second quarter on a 15-yard run. Lake City continued to add points to the scoreboard when Robinson scampered 51 yards for a touchdown. Cooper converted on the extra-point kicks after both scores.

Manning scored two quick second-quarter touchdowns on a one-yard run and an 84-yard kick return to cut Lake City’s lead to 33-14.

Carson scored his fourth touchdown of the night on a one-yard run in the third quarter. Cooper’s extra-point kick was good.

Manning added another score on a one-yard run set up by a long 64-yard gain in the third period.

The Panthers added their final touchdown of the night in the fourth period, when Kevin Brand bulled his way into the end zone for an eight-yard scoring run.
